(1st – 9th September)
El Carpio Town Hall, The Rafael Boti Provincial Arts Foundation (Cordoba Provincial Government) and the Andalusian Regional Government’s Provincial Department of Culture
Scarpia is considered, on a national level, as the most dynamic laboratory and creative project which exists nowadays in the world of landscape art. As for the creative workshops that are held, among the teachers have been artists of the calibre of Daniel Canogar, Rogelio López Cuenca or Mateo Maté. El Carpio offers a whole range of different types of landscape since, besides its ideal position tucked in between the countryside and the foothills of the Sierra Morena, it also stands on the River Guadalquivir, which gently flows past its monuments, which have been declared sites of cultural interest. This means that the artwork produced in the midst of this landscape incorporates the added interest of the rich historical heritage of this town. Over 120 artistic events have taken place in its surrounding countryside and urban areas, and in the theatre, there have been over 100 conferences, bringing together architects, landscape artists, well-known artists and historians. In short, Scarpia has become a reference point for the practice and teaching of artistic events in natural and urban areas.
