HOW TO GET HERE

By Road

Due to its exceptional geographical position, the city is extremely well-connected - not just with the north of Spain, but also with the rest of Andalusia via the N-IV Autovía (dual carriageway).

The main N-432 road, which runs north-south from Badajoz to Granada, also intersects the N-IV at Cordoba.

  • From Madrid: To get to Cordoba, take the N-IV Autovía de Andalucía (Andalusian Dual Carriageway). Approx. length of journey: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • From Seville: You should also take the Autovía de Andalucía (Andalusian Dual Carriageway).. Approx. length of journey: 1 hour
  • From Malaga: Take the 331 Main Road. Some stretches of this road have been turned into the Cordoba-Malaga Dual Carriageway, and others are due to open soon. Approx. length of journey: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • From Murcia and Levante: The best route is to take the A-92 which links Puerto Lumbreras with western Andalusia. At Antequera (province of Malaga), take the N-331 to Cordoba
  • From Portugal and Extremadura: Get to the north of the province via the N-432, a good road which has recently been improved and resurfaced
  • From the Algarve (Portugal) and Huelva: Take the Autopista del V Centenario dual carriageway to Seville and join the Autovía de Andalucía (Andalusian Dual Carriageway)
  • From Gibraltar and Cadiz: Take the N-IV towards Madrid

By Train

Cordoba is just as well connected by train as it is by road, and the main line connecting Madrid with Malaga, Seville, Cadiz and Huelva stops at Cordoba.

What is more, the connections between Madrid, Cordoba and Seville are all the easier thanks to the High Speed Train (AVE). Seville-Cordoba takes only 40 minutes and Madrid-Cordoba takes only 1 hour 40 minutes.

By Plane

As far as air transport is concerned, Cordoba has an operating airport which can be used by up to 80-seater jet or propeller aircraft. Currently there are no regular passenger flights, although the expansion of Cordoba airport will soon permit flights to other cities in Spain, Europe and Africa.

At present, the closest international airports are Seville, Malaga and Madrid.

WEATHER

Cordoba has a continental Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences. Winters are mild, with occasional frosts, and summers are extremely hot, with wide fluctuations in daily temperature and maximum temperatures among the highest in Europe - every year the temperature goes over 40ºC on several occasions.
