2016 marks the year when a Spanish city will once again hold the title of European Capital of Culture. Cordoba, the city that was - and still is - a model of tolerance and coexistence, a place of encounters, of learning and of cultural exchange, has entered the running for this designation in the conviction that it has enough merits to be honoured with such a high distinction. The Prince of Asturias, the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, as well as numerous artists, intellectuals and participants at national and international meetings, have all backed and encouraged the efforts taken by the city to make what is an aspiration today become a reality in the future.
